Magic City Fashion Week’s mission is to fill a void in the Birmingham creative community. We believe that art, specifically fashion, has the power to send important messages that could otherwise go unheard.
Last year we set out to prove that our city was hungry for a fashion week for the people. And In five short months of planning, we did just that! Hundreds of creatives, volunteers, and community partners answered the call to help create the magic moment that was Magic City Fashion Week. In 2017 we hosted 20 fashion & networking events including diverse runway shows; provided HIV, Trans, and Prep 101 to a total audience of over 2000; and tested over 100 people for HIV.
“I just want to thank Magic City Fashion Week (MCFW) for being a platform to launch people into their dreams. I think it’s amazing when anybody decides to do something to help others. That’s what MCFW does. Since then our meet ups have grown not only in number but in diversity. Both our platforms are committed to the growth of the creative community in Birmingham and part of that means crossing barriers that plagued this city for many years.” -John Craft, Founder | Portrait Birmingham
